welcome

Hello there, my name is Matthew Hobbs and I am a computer programmer, web developer, and all round science aficionado.

My passion is programming and producing accessible services and applications that provide a benefit for its' users. My programming methodology is to aim to produce 'beautiful' code - clean, efficient, meaningful and well-documented. More specifically for web development, I aim for my work to be standards compatible and accessible across a range of devices.

"Great web design needs to be complimented with great development in order to achieve maximum effectiveness, and visa versa."

I am a supporter of the open source community and see the benefits of code re-use - in most cases there is no need to re-invent the wheel if it can be avoided.

Having had a passion for technology and programming from an early age, I have gained much experience in developing using several languages - many of which have been self-taught. After completion of my HSC in 2003, I commenced studying for my Bachelor in Internet Science and Technology at UoW. During those three years of study my knowledge and skills were vastly improved, and I graduated in December, 2006. Along with the computer science subjects, I also studied some graphic design subjects as part of my degree. Although I don't have an artistic bone in me, these subjects gave me the skills to confidently translate designs into functional applications.
